The UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, has fined Youngtek Solutions £600,000 for failing to implement adequate age verification measures on its adult content websites. The fine is the latest enforcement action taken under the Online Safety Act, which aims to protect children from accessing harmful online content.
An investigation conducted in the second half of last year found that Youngtek Solutions, which operates four adult content sites, failed to comply with the requirement for strict age checks to prevent children from accessing the sites.
The fine consists of an initial £500,000 for the regulatory breach and an additional £100,000 for failing to respond to a formal request for information.
According to the report, Youngtek Solutions has since implemented age assurance practices to comply with the regulations.

George Lusty, director of enforcement at Ofcom, stated that adult sites must use robust age checks to protect children in the UK from accessing porn online, and that the regulator will use its enforcement powers to ensure this outcome.
Lusty added that any company that fails to comply with the regulations or misses important deadlines can expect to face penalties, as they will be held accountable for their actions.
This is not the first fine imposed under the Online Safety Act. Previously, Ofcom issued a fine of £1.35m to a group called 8579 LLC for similarly failing to age gate adult content, demonstrating that the regulator is committed to enforcing the Act.
