Gamer Headphones Get High Marks in Review

The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni is a gaming headset that offers a wide range of features, including superb audio quality, Hi-Res support, effective noise cancellation, and excellent noise rejection from the boom microphone. With a price tag of $399.99, it’s certainly a luxury item, but it ticks all the technical boxes that a gamer could need.

The headset’s connectivity options are one of its standout features, allowing users to simultaneously play and mix audio from up to three USB inputs, a line-in, and Bluetooth. This means that gamers can stay connected to their work Slack on their PC while gaming on their Xbox, and keep Discord open on their phone.

Design and Comfort

The Arctis Nova Pro Omni has a metal headband and a bulkiness that contributes to the feeling of durability. The ear cups are comfortable and soft, with a neoprene strap that can be adjusted to fit in two positions. The side panels on the ear cups snap off easily, hiding the USB port on one side and the battery slot on the other.

While the headset doesn’t look like a premium product out of the box, it’s comfortable to wear for extended periods and has just the right amount of rigidity to stay put without undue pressure. The faux leather is comfortable and soft, though it will eventually degrade.

Audio Quality and Features

The headset offers superb audio quality, Hi-Res support, effective noise cancellation, and excellent noise rejection from the boom microphone.

The headset has on-device noise cancellation, which works well for general background noise and the hum of whirring fans. However, it still lets in the sound of voices, which may be a drawback for some users. The microphone is omnidirectional, with noise cancellation picking up the slack admirably.

Audio Mixing and Battery Life

The Arctis Nova Pro Omni’s ability to connect multiple audio sources and dynamically mix them is a key feature for some users. The headset can be used to simultaneously stream wirelessly via the dedicated 2.4GHz connection from the hub alongside Bluetooth direct from a phone.

The microphone pulls out of the main body and isn’t particularly rigid, but it managed to retain its position during testing and automatically mutes once placed back into the housing.

The Arctis Nova Pro Omni’s features and price point make it a significant investment. For some users, the audio mixing feature may justify the luxury price tag. However, for others, the cost may be harder to justify, especially when compared to other options on the market.

Whether or not the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni is worth it will depend on the individual user’s needs and priorities. With its advanced features, superb audio quality, and effective noise cancellation, it’s certainly a strong contender in the luxury gaming headset market.

It is a strong contender.
